Spring Garden Road Charrette

Spring Garden Rd. Charrette – March 4th 2016 Dalhousie School of Planning Exhibition Hall. 6pm to 9pm. Refreshments will be served. Cash bar available.

Spring Garden Road, from Barrington Rd. to Summer St. has been, and needs to become again, the thriving vibrant day-long and year round centre of the city.Something needs to be done urgently. It’s been patched up, cobbled together and considered too parochially for too long. As a community we need to do something now. We should imagine and define what we want Spring Garden Road to be and find a way to take some bold, informed, meaningful action now.

In order to initiate this effort, and in the spirit of meaningful community engagement which is at the heart of the Dalhousie School of Planning Shift: Engage Conference, the evening of Friday March 4th is devoted to a community charrette (design session) focussing on Spring Garden Road.

This charrette will provide an opportunity, as a community, to think collectively, boldly and imaginatively about what should be done and how to put Spring Garden Road on the map of places to go in our city. This event will help to shape the future of this city.

Facilitated by the Planning and Design Centre, and sponsored by the Spring Garden Area Business Association and Walk n' Roll Halifax.
