Make Music Day 2018

Make Music Day is a free celebration of music around the world on June 21 - the Summer Solstice. Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music Day is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every time of musician, young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion - pour into the streets, parks, plazas and porches to share their music with friends, neighbours, and strangers. It is free and open to the public.

Alliance Français is looking for anyone with a venue to offer and interested in hosting a volunteer performance during the afternoon and/or evening of June 21. Ideally, this would be an outdoor space that provides the option of moving indoors in case of rain. Being part of Make Music Day Halifax is a Great opportunity for visibility for both performers and host venues. This will contribute to the revitalization of your district, and will allow people to discover a great place with an amazing energy!

Launched in 1982 in France, La Fête de la Musique is now held on the same day in more than 750 cities in 120 countries. Edmonton is the only Canadian City involved so far. Alliance Francaise has celebrated Summer Solstice and Make Music Day for the last few years, and in 2017 held the event in Halifax Public Gardens. Now is the time to make this an HRM-wide event! Join the celebration!
