Spring Garden Road Memorial Public Library

The Spring Garden Road Library is located in the heart of the city, close to business, government, post-secondary institutions, health care facilities, and academic libraries. The Library opened in 1951 as a memorial to Halifax’s WWI and WWII casualties. The library building and adjacent Grafton Park are a popular community gathering area. The Spring Garden Road Library, at 38,000 square feet, and with a collection of over 228,000 titles, is the largest branch in the region. It houses specialized collections serving the entire library system, including an extensive Reference collection.
