Commercial tax reform: HRM staff just don’t get it

NOVEMBER 2015 - There has been a call to action in Nova Scotia to help stimulate and grow our economy. Yet our capital city, Halifax — one of Nova Scotia’s main economic engines — continues to deny there is an issue with rapidly rising commercial taxes for small businesses.

HRM staff had a chance to offer real change to our city’s commercial tax options for small business, but regretfully, the latest tax reform report, dated Oct. 15, fails to accomplish anything.
